Greg Troy

My name is  Greg Troy and I am a young furniture designer and maker from Tomhaggard, County Wexford. I have had an interest in woodworking from a young age and when I started  secondary school I took woodwork as one of my subjects. It became by far my favourite subject in school and after completing secondary school I applied for GMIT Letterfrack Centre of Excellence in Furniture Design. I was accepted into the college and am currently in my fourth year here, studying Furniture Design and Manufacture.
Outside of studying Furniture Design in Galway, I am manufacturing bespoke furniture and cabinetry from my own workshop here in Wexford for customers in the area. I enjoy the challenge each new project brings and seeing it through from start to finish.

John Hewer

John Hewer is a fourth year Furniture Design Student from the west coast of Ireland who has always had a passion for creating things in wood.

Much of the work he produces incorporates hand crafted elements and a major influence on the design of each of his pieces is the character of the timber it is produced from. As each piece of wood that is worked is totally individual, it is felt that the best should be made of these unique features when they are discovered, be they sap wood, stains, ripple, or even just a pretty piece of grain.
John has worked in a cabinet making workshop in England and competed in the final of the Ireland Skills Cabinet making competition. This experience has given him an appreciation for high quality work, something he strives for in the pieces that he produces.
