"hygge" Family Chair

The connection I have with this design is that human connection - warmth - comfort -simple pleasures and family. My inspiration came from the birth of my beautiful daughter Orlagh and my attentive devoted Partner. I watched as mother and baby tried to breastfeed with no comfort on any chair we tried, as mum and baby were breast feeding for many hours I wondered how to make them more comfortable. It was at this time I started to design for my final project for GMIT. I have always liked to challenge myself and wanted to create something organically shaped.

The hygge chair is what the name articulates “hygge” a Danish word for a place or object for enjoying life's simple pleasures, connecting with family, friends and having that human connection of embracement warmth and comfort.
