Our Future Kitchens

Furniture designs are incorporating technology now more than ever. The future of our lives seems to lay in the application of smart technology. SMART, stands for "Self-Monitoring Analysis And Reporting Technology." It is used to protect and prevent errors in hard drives. The SMART technology basically monitors and analyzes hard drives (hence the name), then checks the health of your hard drive and lets you know if there are any problems. This is what makes it safe for technology and robotics to carry out tasks that typically could only be complete by humans. The attached video and web site takes SMART technology to a completely new level. A robotic system that learns form a chef by monitoring their movements and replicating them to cook all your favorite meals while you go to the gym or are on your way home form work. This, believe it or not is the future of kitchens and as designers I feel that we are going to have to rethink what a kitchen is going to look like, what goes into the kitchen and how everything works. Knowing how these technologies work and whats coming in the pipeline is integral for the high end kitchen manufacturers to allow them to be at the top of the game.
